COCOS LOVERS are a band made up of husbands, wives, brothers, sisters and friends from Deal on the Kent coast. They are made up of seven members and are part of the new young folk movement, that has been championed by the likes of Mumford and Sons, Noah and The Whale, Laura Marling, Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes.

Cocos Lovers formed in early 2008 and since their formation have gone from strength to strength. Soon after forming they went headlong into a busy summer of festivals and gigs. The band then embarked on a European tour at the tail end of 2008, where they travelled through Holland, Belgium, France, Germany and Spain. They busked their way from place to place and stayed in communes and squats, where this unusual troupe of musicians were welcomed with open arms. The European tour lasted three months and proved to be an incredible eye-opening experience, with many of their adventures inspiring new songs.

The bands songs feature a collection of instruments including violin, tenor banjo, mandolin, guitars, flute and ukulele. The intricate musicanship is fused with lush harmonies, which make for an rich, dynamic and interesting sound.

The band released two ep's in 2009 on their own Smugglers Records label. The first 'the story of lunatic van rogue' was released in April, whilst the follow up 'time to stand' was released in June. Both ep's have since sold out and have received fantastic revues. They are currently available on ITUNES.

The band recently featured on BBC Radio Kent where they were described as ‘one of Kent’s most promising new bands’. They have also featured on BBC 6 Music, as well as various internet and European radio stations.

Cocos Lovers have supported some great bands this year, such as Mumford and Sons, Alessis Ark and 6 Day Riot, as well as completing a UK tour and playing a whole host of festivals, which has included Lounge On The Farm, Green Man Festival, Secret Garden Party, Small World, Farmyard Festival, Coed Spring Gathering, Full Circle, Emerge Festival, Triban and Canterbury Fringe Festival. They also played at 2009 Broadstairs folk and Sidmouth Fringe Folk Festival.

The band can often be found busking and during the summer performed in many UK cities. It was in the city of Cambridge where they were spotted by QUITE GREAT PR, one of the UK's leading PR companies, who's clients include everyone from The Pogues to Paul Simon to Jools Holland to Van Morrison. Cocos Lovers have just signed a publishing deal with QUITE GREAT'S sister company GR8 APE publishing and are looking forward to the future.

The band have just finished recording their debut album entitled 'Johannes', which is to be released on 6th March 2010. They are already being booked for festivals in 2010 and are currently putting together live dates for the new year.
